This Day

I open my eyes this day and know that sickness and remorse are not my companions.  I have slept well and I am sober.  I breathe in the light of goodness and am filled with a sense of well-being.  I do not dread the day.

I know that earning a living is not my most important activity today.  My truly important job is caring for every person that crosses my path; seeking wholeness and health for myself, and lifting my heart to the peace of my higher power.

God is my employer, and there is much work for me to do this day.  I do not seek to understand God’s plan for me; I do not question it.  I know this day may hold some anxiety, but like hunger and fatigue, relief will be found.  I lean into God’s care for me, I surround myself with God’s love and hold it close to me as if it were a cashmere shawl, wrapped about me for warmth, softness, protection.

Strength and love begin to flow into me and I am filled with gratitude as I begin this day.
